According to an internal memo published by Yahoo Finance UK, UBS (UBS) is shaking up the management of its technology division to ensure that it evolves with the rapidly changing digital landscape.

UBS told staff this week that the management of the group's technology management committee was divided into two roles: the technical director and the new role of the director of the digital division.

The Swiss bank appointed Rick Carey of JPMorgan (JPM), its new CTO, and named former Deutsche Bank (DBK.F) Global Leader of Innovation, Elly Hardwick, as its first in charge of digital technologies. Hans-Juergen Rieder, CTO of UBS since 2016, is leaving the bank as part of the reshuffle.

Mike Dargan, head of group technology at UBS, told Yahoo Finance UK: "I am delighted that Rick Carey and Elly Hardwick are joining our global technology management team.

"Advancing our technology strategy is crucial for us to continue to embrace cloud computing and drive the growth of our platforms and engineering capabilities."

"Similarly, with the data, innovation and artificial intelligence that shape our digital future, Elly's experience and insights will be a major asset for the new position of Chief Digital Officer. The roles of the OTC and the ODO have never been so important. "

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Hardwick was CEO of Credit Benchmark, a London-based fintech company.
